Joe Corrado
President/Owner
Joe Corrado literally grew up in this business. His grandfather started the first of the Corrado companies over 65 years ago and Joe literally learned at the knees of his grandfather, father and uncle. In keeping with tradition, he worked in the field in his formative years and learned the business the hard way. Just like his father and uncle before him, Joe found that it was no picnic being related to the owner of the company. Instead of deference or indifference, he found himself “volunteered” for the most miserable tasks available at any given time. Joe was a hard worker and earned the respect of his coworkers. Over the years he worked on, and ultimately experienced, every aspect of the business from a field perspective.
It came as no surprise that Joe selected Clemson University for his college education. Clemson’s superior academics and exceptional Construction Science and Management program were exactly what he was looking for as far as his continuing education. He rotated back to Delaware for his breaks to lend a hand, working on or supervising various demolition and excavation projects for the Corrado organization.
After his graduation with a BS in Construction Science and Management in 1999, Joe took a position with one of the largest civil construction companies in South Carolina to put to use his experience, education and background in a “non-family” business setting. Joe worked as an estimator, reviewing drawings and specifications, and as a project manager, running work he was awarded. After two years, confident in the successful application of his education, he moved back home to rejoin the family business - initially as an estimator and field superintendent.
A year after his return, Joe took over Triad Construction with a plan to meld 21st century technologies and techniques into his family’s 65 years of construction experience. He understood that his most important task was to procure and lock down core personnel. He knew who he wanted for each position and he pushed, conspired, cajoled and negotiated until he had his team in place. Joe’s management team is a small but very effective group of talented individuals.
Because of the structure of the other Corrado family organizations, Joe is capable of expanding his equipment, labor, estimating and other management resources to handle the largest projects while maintaining a small core, minimizing overhead and ultimately reducing the cost impact for Jhis clients. In contrast to other small businesses, when Joe scales up to handle larger projects, the personnel resources he “procures” are known quantities. In fact, most of the personnel available to him have grown up in the Corrado family alongside of him. Through the other Corrado entities (specifically Corrado Management Services and Heavy Equipment Rental), he has priority access to additional heavy equipment and trucking, as well as accounting, labor, project management, scheduling and estimating personnel.
Working closely with his skilled and conscientious group, Joe has been introducing technologies and techniques for estimating, scheduling, cost tracking, project and contract management, and quality control. Because of his success, the other Corrado entities quickly adopted Joe’s improvements, providing seamless integration between all entities.
Joe has built a truly efficient team-based organization in CCC and the other family organizations by extension. Each person in his organization has a primary responsibility and area of specialization but their extended responsibilities and skill-sets overlap. A quick review of the bios of Joe’s team members will reveal just how integrated and efficient this team is.
